Iron Ore

The Iron Ore lodge includes everything you will need to kick back and relax including wi-fi, lots of super soft blankets, two gas fireplaces, a hammock outdoors, central air conditioning and heat, Adirondack chairs out back and around the bonfire pit. The layout of the property was designed for ultimate comfort and the rooms are spacious and uniquely decorated to maintain the history of the home.

One of our favorite features of the lodge is the wrap around decks with views of the mountains. Our renters love taking advantage of the top deck by sipping a cup of Dunkin' coffee in the morning to soak up the views. In the evenings, you can enjoy a cocktail in our vintage bar complete with fun glassware, neon lights and an ice maker. From the first level you can walk down to the bonfire pit where there are little white lights strung and many seating choices: Adirondack chairs, a hammock or a swing to sit down and enjoy the fire. There is a shed placed next to the bonfire pit stocked with wood for evening campfires.

We provide both a gas and charcoal grill for outdoor cooking if you'd like to bring your own charcoal. Both grills are located in a covered side patio that also has a large picnic table for meals outdoors.

The property has a large yard which is perfect for children to play on or for adults to play bocce or cornhole which we provide.

The kitchen is well equipped, and we provide you with all of the utensils, cookware (pots, pans, bakeware, bowls, cutting boards, strainer), and small appliances (Keurig machine, coffee maker, microwave, toaster) that you will need. The dining room table comfortably seats 10 people. There is also a kitchen island that has 4 stools for additional seating.

The lodge has 5 bedrooms. There are two bedrooms upstairs: one has a king bed, and the second bedroom has a queen bed and a futon. In the lower level there are three bedrooms: one with a king bed and a pull-out queen sofa, the second bedroom has 3 bunkbed sets (6 twins), and the last bedroom has a bunkbed with 2 queens and a twin bed.

There are two LG Curve TV's: an 82" in the first level living room with lots of seating which makes it great for watching games or movies together. The other flatscreen is in the lower level near the bar area. If you're not into watching TV, there are a ton of board games, cards, puzzles, and books stocked for your enjoyment.

Our lodge is located within 30-40 minutes from 3 ski resorts: Wisp, Timberline or Canaan Valley. There is also great whitewater rafting at the Cheat River or the Youghiogheny River. There are a few state parks nearby: Potomac State Forest or Blackwater Falls State Park just 30 minutes away. Also, there are several lakes nearby if you have a boat: Deep Creek Lake, Mount Storm, Jennings Randolph Lake and Savage River Reservoir.

There is a long gravel driveway with plenty of space to park 8-10 cars.

We keep firewood for the guests to use in the shed down by the bonfire pit.
We provide Dunkin and Hot Chocolate to enjoy during your stay.
